Position Description:
The Board of Directors supports the work of Cooperative Elder Services, Inc. (CESI) and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. This includes serving as a trusted adviser to the executive director for the development and implementation of CESI’s strategic plan; approving the annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; reviewing outcomes for evaluating CESI’s impact, and measuring performance and effectiveness; representing CESI to stakeholders, acting as an ambassador for the organization; making CESI a philanthropic priority for annual gifts, so that CESI can credibly solicit contributions from foundations and organizations.
This is an unpaid, volunteer position.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector.
- A commitment to and understanding of CESI’s beneficiaries, preferably based on experience.
- Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of CESI’s beneficiaries.
